The “Bloop”

Point Nemo is the most isolated spot on the ocean, and here is where the mystery comes in, in 1997 there was a mysterious “Bloop” noise underwater. Initially some people thought that it could be a sea monster, a massive sea creature, or military activity. There were some other theories that it was caused by volcanic eruptions or tectonic plate movements which are a lot more reasonable then the others. But in 2005 NOAA scientists traced the sound to icequakes which are icebergs cracking and breaking away from a glacier which produces a sound very similar to the Bloop. So, while this isn’t the most exciting mystery it is pretty cool. If you want to learn more about Point Nemo you can click this button to get to another website called “Under the Sea”.
